Growing victorians

I regularly give talks on the subject of Growing Victorians in Your Garden.

These talks are full of practical gardening tips, props featuring my own illustrations and – of course – terrible puns.

Among other places, I have performed this show in a shed, in a front room, at Stroud Steampunk Weekend, Arnos Vale Cemetery in Bristol and
at the National Space Centre in Leicester.

(Obviously, my Victorians are staying in the garden for the present, but if you are interested in me bringing this show to your venue at some point in the future, please do drop me a
line through the Contact page!)

A performance in March 2020 in the Anglican Chapel at Arnos Vale Cemetery in Bristol. As you can see, as well as giving gardening tips, I also got to pretend to be a vicar and a very old man. (Thank you to David Gurney for the photographs @dgdoesimages on Instagram.)

Talk at Stroud Steampunk Weekend (25th-26th May 2019) at Subscription Rooms, Stroud. I grew I K Brunel especially for this audience, who turned out to be very knowledgeable about the great man. (Thanks to Deborah Roberts Photography for the photos.)

I developed this show by giving ten minutes talks in a small shed surrounded by the wonderful work of artist Annie Hutchinson (@littlewrenfactory on Instagram). This was part of Stroud’s 2019 Site Festival. (Thanks to @atelierstroud for the use of the shed!)

Obviously my Victorians aren’t going to be going out on the road for a while but will be staying in the garden, so here are a few pages from the book that accompanies the show. Needless to say, growing Victorians is a perfect and very companionable hobby in these difficult times. (16pp, 14cm x 14cm, stitched spine).
